About the Requirements
The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration has issued guidance on the requirements for eight-hours of training on opioid or other substance use disorders. The Medication Access and Training Expansion (MATE) Act requires all DEA-registered providers to complete this training.
Practitioners can satisfy this requirement by engaging in a total of eight hours of training on treatment and management of patients with opioid or other substance use disorders.
The deadline for satisfying this training requirement is the date of the practitioner’s next scheduled DEA registration submission (initial registration or renewal registration) on or after June 27, 2023.
MI® Controlled Substances Course Package
MI’s Controlled Substances course package can be utilized to satisfy the MATE Act training requirement. The package consists of six separate online modules covering various topics related to controlled substances and opioid disorders.
